Potato Head Garage

About a month ago, I went to the latest addition from Potato Head's group, a slightly upscale semi fine dining located at the ex Bengkel night club. When my friends and I stepped inside Potato Head Garage, we were awed by the beautiful classic hallway; the black & white marble floors along with the vintage candle lamps placed on the side of the alley's walls was definitely stunning. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of it.

Entering the place, I started to understand the reason of the word garage behind the name. Spacious, unfinished ceiling and standard white painted walls, it does look like it was built in a big old garage. Though they hang many grand chandeliers, and the place does look fancy, somehow I felt like they didn't put 100% effort on the whole design. Took example on what they did with the couches. The white cover sort of reminded me of moving day, where people just throw a white sheet to cover the couch from any dust. I personally think it didn't match the whole concept. Nevertheless, the decor is nice and felt a bit French.

They serve western type of cuisines with quite of price tags for the grilled menu. But if you left out the steaks' page, the rest of them are still in quite reasonable price range. Our appetizer, Blue swimmer crab cake (90k), served with homemade green curry was a good start. The crab cake was delicious and the curry was very very light.

As the main course, the three of us chose and shared their PTT burger (135k), Roasted salmon (135k) and Wagyu rayu pappardelle (110k). Beautiful plating, delightful taste. The wagyu beef on the burger was so good and juicy, with fried onions and slightly toasted bun, it was one hell of burger. Salmon was cooked and seasoned well, and even the pappardelle felt a bit undercooked, but I like the beef bolognese, generous and delicious!

We asked for the waiter's recommendation for the dessert and he suggested Kinako parfait (60k), I don't really know what it is to be exact, but it tasted like caramel chocolate mousse with lady finger on the bottom. Though it was not the best one, but it was okay. The mousse was very smooth and not overly sweet. If only the lady finger was a bit crunchier.

Great service, nice place to hang and delicious food. What's more to ask? Oh, do order the Passion and vanilla iced tea (40k), you won't regret it!
